Goodness. Time really, really flies in a day. I got back at 1ish yesterday and I don't know how I ended up sleeping at 4. I woke up at 12pm today and suddenly it's 1pm already. Still have to do my laundry, cook lunch, prepare for my essay and read up for next week's seminars. ARGHHHHH. A 1001 things to do.

I had a good Thursday and Friday. Those 2 days are pretty much the 'weekend' for me now, because most of us end our seminars on Thurs (it won't be for me next week.. sob) so we tend to go out on Thurs night already. (my housemates likewise) So after my last seminar on Thursday I went to my English Department Reception at one of the college bars... we were entitled to 2 free drinks each. Yeah I hung around my seminar mates and for once we just talked outside of our seminar setting. Realised that, really, Brits are all simply fun-loving, pleasure-seeking peeps. The girls were going on and on about good-looking celebrities, soaps, etc. and I can't believe that dominated the discussion for the entire night. I mean, it was a light-hearted discussion and I shouldn't take it at face level la, but my SG friends and I wouldn't carry such a discussion very far because we won't be really interested in this in the first place. Anyway. I was quite high after we left the bar because the really bad wine (on an empty stomach) got me a lil whoozy. But I could make sense of everything of course, could speak coherently and all. Was just hyper, like after I eat chocolates. Haha. Ailin and I left the departmental meeting and met up with Jason to go for the OSA (Overseas Students Association) elections. Actually, I wasn't interested in the election, but you could get a free ticket to the salsa party afterward if you went and voted. Singaporean cheapo-ness. But anyway. The salsa party was fun! I love dancing. The teachers came to the party and gave a crash course so everyone would know a few simple steps. Yeah. Clarissa was quite a sporty 'male-dancer'. As in, she was my partner and she took classes before so she knew some male steps, so I was her female partner. Quite funny. She went, "I feel like a lecherous man" at one point... then I said "maybe you just are." Haha. it was funny. Ya Clarissa is my senior and she's an MOE scholar as well. Anyway! There was this guy who kinda asked me for a dance thereafter and I think I embarrassed myself, because it's really my first time doing proper salsa-dancing with another person to a whole music track. Arghhh and I know I didn't do it well. BUT. it was fun. Haha. 'cept for the fact I think he's a perv. He's evidently not a student and I heard from Clarissa he's been here for EVERY beginner's salsa class since her year (and maybe even before that) and has turned up for every salsa event. I mean... it's quite odd right.. I felt so relieved after I finished the dance. Brrr.

Yeah. Anyway, I was still quite high after that. Jason walked me Ailin and I back. Went to sleep about 2.

It was Guy Fawkes' Day yesterday. Some guy who tried to blow up the British parliament building or something like that, and was caught and executed (or burnt?). So the Brits (or is it just Yorkies) commemorate this day by setting off fireworks to watch him burn... figuratively. Yes! We set off fireworks! What an experience to bring back since you can't set off fireworks in Singapore... it was quite fun. But because we could only buy the small ones, so it was quite anti-climactic at times. You see the whole thing light and sizzle and burn and SHOOT up to the sky and it rises higher, higher, and higher! and then, then! It.. it... poofs. and that's it. Haha. Quite funny... all of us laughed at the first one we did...
Before fireworks we had elections (very very informal one) at a Singsoc meeting and some mahjong, card games and pool at the Alcuin (one of the colleges) JCR. (Junior Common Room) Watched Simpsons too!! Wow... felt so at home with other SGs and SIMPSONS. *grin*

Ok now. Got a lot, a lot of work to do. Sigh. Essay due next week and I haven't started on anything. No research, nothing, bleah. Gotta start cracking now. Oh, and do my laundry before that...

Must remember that nothing is as terrible as it seems. All things have a bright side to them... God is my hope and my light.

"For you will light my lamp,
The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness."
