it's getting dark really early here... about 5+ it gets dark. well next week we're going to turn our clocks one hour behind so the time difference between Singapore and York will be 8 hours. Oh well... makes it even more difficult to talk to people back home. But it's alright I guess... will be back in dec anyway. :)
Yeah I was homesick last night. But the cloud passes away... then God makes His face shine on me.
First German class yesterday! Guten tag! Ich heisse En Qi, und wie heist du? Ich studierst Englisch... und du? Haha.
Wah, headache. German is harder than I thought it is... I mean, we've only started on the basics but there're so many things to remember. It's the "I am", "you are", "they are", "I have", "she/he has", etc. etc. Oh well. we got an interesting handout, an article by Mark Twain about how awful the German language is. Shall type out an excerpt of it.
"In German, a young lady has no sex, while a turnip has. Think what overwrought reverence that shows for the turnip, and what callous disrespect for the girl. See how it looks in print -- I translate this from a conversation in one of the best of the German Sunday-school books:
Gretchen: 'Whilhelm, where is the turnip?'
Wilhelm: 'She has gone to the kitchen.'
Gretchen: 'Where is the accomplished and beautiful English maiden?'
Wilhelm: 'It has gone to the opera.'"
Haha. I thought that was amusing.
