Had quite a great night. For some reason I was really really hyper the entire night, and even now I'm brimming with energy. And I was really dead lethargic during the day... that's really odd isn't it? I think the dusk does something to me... stimulates production of adrenaline. Hm anyway. Salsa was quite alright... well I like dancing in general so I guess I liked it. But there was a severe dearth of guys! Haha. So partner dancing was a bit impossible. Oh but the professionals did a demo and they were just so...... awesome. Oh goodness.
After salsa I went for Eleena's college bible study. Salsa ended late so I couldn't rush down to Halifax's in time. But anyway, they were really friendly... they were really warm and I warmed up very quickly to them too. Speaking of which, I'm getting on really quite well with my housemates. I'm blessed to have such friendly people around...
Had the SingSoc (Singapore Society) dinner today. Almost every Singaporean went, and all the freshers went for it. It was at this Italian restaurant called Toto. Ordered pizza/pasta for a happy hour price of 4.50... then Cuifen and I shared a tiramisu, which really was 90% whipped cream. Aw man... 'sinful'. I was already quite high then, but I think the sugars did something to me. I got even higher... was so hyper! Kept talking and smiling and laughing. Oh well... Hey but anyway, there were Indians, a Pakistani and a Brit who joined Singsoc and came for the dinner! haha that was so surprising. After dinner we went down to this traditional English pub and sat around and talked. The topic revolved mainly around Singapore because we were letting in on the idiosyncracies of Singaporeans to the Brit and Pakistani. We were teaching them all about Singlish. Haha! Tried defining
lah, lor, meh, cheem, suay, etc. The Pakistani caught on quite fast, and he looked really amused. We were like, "eh don't like that leh!" or "wah, really suay." to demonstrate our command of Singlish. And it was really quite hilarious... I never had such fun defining the 'Singapore culture' before... if we even have one. But oh well, it was really enjoyable. Oh after all the talk we decided to try a few of those orientation games. Everyone rolled their eyes at first but when they couldn't discover certain patterns they got hooked onto it and wanted to see more demonstrations... yeah you should know what I mean. haha Ailin and I were like reliving our 'orientation' days, she having been councillor and I an OGL.
The enjoyable thing about it is that it felt rather homely. And you feel a certain sense of connection with other Singaporeans in this foreign land. Yup :)
I'm going to town tomorrow! Yay no lessons until 4.15pm!
Oh today's seminars weren't that bad. I spoke up more easily than I thought and I think the tutor was happy with some of my points because she nodded and smiled. whew. But oh well, there were some texts I didn't prepare on ('cuz the books haven't arrived! Argh! and I couldn't find them at the library...) so I just kept silent for them. But I like my class. Not too aggressive, not too shallow... 'twas rather similar to JC actually. Now I understand what Mr Teo was doing by encouraging us to discuss among ourselves. The way he answers students' queries appeared to have annoyed some of my counterparts but it was really the way my university seminars are conducted. Like what J Moody (my tutor) said, we are "now responsible for our own learning", and I'm so glad Mr Teo trained my class and I for that in JC. Thank God!
Oh yes ma! I got my parcel! Yayyy!!!!!!! time to go decorate my room...
